Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Egan
Danbury - Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Jane (Tappan) Egan, age 94, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at Hancock Hall in Danbury on Sunday, June 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late Russell W. Egan.
Mrs. Egan was born May 13, 1924 in Danbury, daughter of the late William B. Tappan, Sr. and the late Ruth (Hall) Tappan. She was a lifelong resident of Danbury, graduate of the Danbury High School Class of 1942, a 1945 graduate of the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing and a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury. She retired in 1989 from the Glen Hill Convalescent Center where she had worked for many years as the evening nursing supervisor.
Mrs. Egan is survived by her son: William G. Conley and his wife Linda of New Milford, her daughters: Laura (Vogel) Clarke and her husband James P. of Sherman and Susan Elizabeth (Vogel) Fairchild and her husband Hank of Danbury, her 3 beloved grandchildren: Sean P. Clarke and his wife Katia of Sherman, Sarah Elizabeth (Fairchild) Place and her husband Timothy Place of FL and Shannon Elizabeth Conley of New Milford, her precious great grandchildren: Ava Summer and Gavin Place and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers: Frederick P. Tappan and William B. Tappan, Jr.
Mrs. Egan's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hancock Hall for the excellent care that they provided to Elizabeth over the past three years.
Elizabeth's family will receive family and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Thursday June 14, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
