Rest in peace Barbara. I'm glad that your suffering is ended. I enjoyed our time together at DHS and especially running into you at WCSU, chit-chatting about former students. You embodied joie de vivre, and inspired others to be happy and make the most of the moments we have despite adversity. Sincerely, Reggie

Barbara was aored by my daughter who took her AP Spanish class in 99-00 at DHS...She spent a lot of time with her almost every day in her free period...I admit I was jealous until I met Babara years later as a member of the WCDNF...after speaking with her I realized why Barbara was so special to Joanna, my daughter...we will miss her smile, her courage and her wit and intelligence..She left a legacy for all you knew her..

Your Mom and I go back to the 70's with DAYO Trojans having helped get them up and running. What fun times and Emory as the Trojan mascot.
Teaching Spanish was what shesh liked best. Got alot of kids to enjoy it and pass including my three sons The trips she brought them on. She also coached the cheerleaders at DH for a while.
She was such a courageous, strong, caring woman always willing to lend a helping hand.
We met again at Ann's Place as peer mentors helping other women with breast cancer.
Extended her hand to the Spanish community convincing them to go for mamographies.
Her knitting class at AP was a huge success too. She always put on a happy face no matter what was ailing her.
Barbara, you were my angel. I know you prayed for me and my family as I did yours. You got me through very dark days after Frank died. My heart is aching right now because I won't be able to see you in the flesh but I know you are in heaven with the rest of God's angels. You will always be in my heart. Your Forever Friend, Candy

Dear Family,
Wishing you peace during this time. Barbara was a unique lady, special in many ways. She took my daughters to Spain, taught them about cultural diversity and impacted their lives, as well as, so many others in our community. As we both worked together at DHS and WCSU, I witnessed her passion and expertise as she mentored young people and watched them soar.
She is a true loss to Danbury, but the stories about her will keep her memory alive. It was a pleasure to know her and witness her journey.
Amanda,
May you remember all her quirky ways and teach your son about how special his great grandma was.
With love from my family,
Andee & Ronnie Nunn, and former students and friends: Ilana Nunn Okafor and Alexi Nunn Freeman

Dear Deirdre, Mark, Maura and Family:
I am from the Woman's Club. I worked with your mother on the board and took her knitting classes at her home. We all loved Barbara. She was always herself, unique and beautiful. She was wise at loving and knew how to show her affection openly. I remember her saying with a smile when talking about teaching, "I loved my students and they loved me."
Just being with your mom was a treasure, she was reassuring, intelligent and welcoming with everyone. She easily and simply talked about her life and I could see how very strong she had been in the many challenges that came her way.
I am going to miss her. She was a special, rare person and for me her memory will be enduring.
