I met Pat during our Peace Corps service in Poland, 1990-92. She was an amazing person and a good friend. I still remember some of the things she said--for example, her shock at the age of her "host father", who was her age and looked "almost dead." Some of the volunteers would go hiking on weekends in the hills and mountains of southern Poland; when I asked one guy why they never asked me, but always asked Pat, he just looked surprised and said, "Well, Pat can keep up with us."
Pat, you were a role model for a lot of the women in the group. You are remembered fondly, and you are missed.
