Obituary of Richard F. Fenton

Richard F. Fenton Sr. January 21, 1929 - September 12, 2008 Richard F. Fenton, Sr. 79, of Meadow Brook Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Virginia (Brennan) Fenton, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Friday, September 12th, after a long and courageous battle with coronary artery disease. He was born in Bridgeport on January 21, 1929, son of the late Ambrose Fenton and Lillian (Barrett) Fenton. Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during peacetime. He worked as a quality inspector for Perkin Elmer for more than 20 years. He also worked for many prominent area restaurants. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, AARP, and was an active parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, video games, reading, and going to area restaurants. He was a generous and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His grandsons, Tyler and Nicky were his pride and joy. In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia, he will be sadly missed by his son, Richard "Ricky" Fenton, Jr. of Danbury; his daughter, Cindy Chiarella and her husband, Kevin of Danbury; and his grandsons, Tyler and Nicky Chiarella. He is also survived by his stepmother, Peggy Fenton of New Milford; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Irma Tompkins. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 16th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
