Obituary of Jane Ellen Falis

Jane Ellen Falis July 16, 1940 - July 02, 2008 Jane Ellen Agnes (Ziegler) Falis, age 67, of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Danbury, CT, wife of Joseph J. Falis, Jr., was called home to our heavenly father on July 2, 2008. She passed peacefully in the tender, loving arms of her beloved husband and sweetheart of 47 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jane was born July 16, 1940 in Danbury, CT, the youngest child of the late Philip A. Ziegler and Agnes (Melody) Ziegler. Jane attended St. Peters School and was a 1958 graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Laurelton Hall in Milford, CT. She received a bachelor's degree in Education from Western Connecticut State University. She was employed as a teacher in the Danbury, Bethel and Carmel, NY School Systems. While raising her five children, Jane pursued many interests. Over the years, she was employed by the CT State Labor Department, National Semiconductor and Burroughs Corporation. She acquired her real estate license and was an agent for Realtech Realtors. Upon retiring and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996, Jane became very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council #11029. She was an active member as well as a Eucharistic minister and reader with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Las Vegas. Jane's favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, playing the organ, reading and spoiling her grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, Joseph, she is survived by her children, Jessica Braun and her husband Tim of Sandy Hook, Jennifer Falis of Hartford, Joseph J. Falis III and his wife Rachael Lee of New York, Jeanne Mathews and her husband Doug of Danbury, Janette Jane Buonaiuto and her husband Tony, also of Danbury. She is also survived by her sister, Anne Ayers and her husband Walter, of Redding, her brother, Paul Ziegler and his wife Joan, of Danbury, her sister-in-law Kathleen Reynolds and her husband Mert, of Danbury, sister-in-law Jeanette Willcox of Florida, and brother-in-law Robert Falis and his wife Cherrie of Colorado. Jane is survived by her grandchildren; Steven, Gary, Andrew and David Braun, Matthew, Erik, and Nicholas Samuelson, Raymond and Alissa Assad, Grant Falis, Victoria Mathews, and Anthony Jr., Vincent and Nicholas Buonaiuto. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Ziegler and her sisters, Agnes (Mickey) Soucy, Phyllis Ginty, and Helen Miller. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury on Tuesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.
