Obituary of Ann C. Evans

Ann C. Evans October 03, 1921 - March 08, 2010 Ann (Angelina) Evans, 88, of Hancock Hall, Danbury, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Monday, March 8th. The wife of the late Roger B. Evans of Syracuse, Ann was born in New York City on October 3, 1921. A graduate of Hunter College, Ann worked as a teacher in Rockland County, NY for more than 20 years. A permanent member of the National Education Association, she also served as past president of the Spring Valley Teachers Association and was an NYSEA elected delegate. A parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Syracuse, Ann served as past president of the St. Patrick's Senior Guild and worked with its human development committee. She enjoyed travel and the theater, and was an active volunteer at the Syracuse Museum of Art. Ann also served on the Residence Council at both The Gardens and Hancock Hall in Danbury, where she resided in her later years. She is survived by her three daughters, Susanne Bitterman and her husband, Michael of Bethel; Karen Ertl of Garrison, NY; and Pam Harris and her husband, Neil of Seymour, TN; stepson, Richard Evans and his wife, Karen of Seattle, WA; and stepdaughter, Betsy Evans of Bardonia, NY. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Hancock Hall for the loving and compassionate care given to their mother. Funeral Information A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet, NY. Donations Information Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Make A Wish Foundation.
