Obituary of Norman W. Donofree

Norman W. Donofree August 07, 1952 - May 27, 2010 Norman W. Donofree, of Brookfield, beloved husband of Deborah (Canino) Donofree, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital, Thursday May 27, 2010. He was born in Darien on August 7, 1952, son of the late Norman N. and Mary (Young) Donofree. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart University. Mr. Donofree worked as a Supervisor for the Department of Social Services in the State of Connecticut, retiring after 34 years of employment. He was an active parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield, where he was head usher for the noon Mass. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in many ministries through the church. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Handy Dandy Handy Man ministries. In addition to his cherished wife of 34 years, Debbie, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Laura White and her husband, Charles of Bethel, and Kate Donofree of Bridgeport; his grandson, Colin White. He is survived by his sister, Suzanne Reed of Bridgeport; his brother, Brian Donofree; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted dog, Bailey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church on Tuesday june 1 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday May 31 between the hours of 4-6 pm The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Robert Cooper, his entire staff and everyone on 11 East at Danbury Hospital for their compassionate care of Norm and support of the family during Norm's illness. Their kindness will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank Chris and Carolyn of Danbury Regional Hospice for their support and guidance as Norm completed his journey.
