Obituary of Susan Omasta Doktor

Susan Omasta Doktor March 26, 1914 - August 22, 2011 Susan Omasta Doktor Susan Omasta Doktor, 97, beloved wife of the late Steven Doktor, passed into the arms of our Lord at home with her loving sisters in law by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan was born in Danbury on March 26, 1914, oldest child of John and Susan Kozik Omasta. She is survived by her sisters in law Dee Omasta and Ethel Omasta. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and 2 great, great nieces. "Aunt Sue" enjoyed being a part of their lives, and she was special to all of them. Susan attended schools in Danbury and at a later age attended Fordham University. She retired in June 1976 after working many years in New York City at P.S. 166 assisting with pupil accounting. After retirement she returned to Danbury with her late husband. She volunteered for several years at the Danbury Hospital Gift Shop. Susan was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Danbury, and an associate member of Redeemer Lutheran in Fort Myers, FL. She was involved in United Lutheran Society #145, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and AARP 1067. Susan spent many hours visiting the sick and homebound while she was able to drive. She enjoyed playing pinochle at the Senior Center, and was a master at crossword puzzles and Scrabble. Susan looked forward to spending her winters in Ft. Myers Florida and leaves a host of friends there as well as all her friends and neighbors at Kimberly Apartments. They all remember her with a big smile and telling them" I'm doing fine". Besides her husband, she was predeceased by sisters Betty Beardsley, Anne Mato, and brothers John Omasta and Stephen Omasta. Her family wishes to thank Dr Delaney, Dr. MaryBeth Miller, Dr. Sangavi, and Regional Hospice of Danbury for all the love and care they gave her. Funeral Information Funeral services for Susan will be held at 11A.M. on Friday, August 26th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 44 Spring St., Danbury with Reverend Martha Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at the direction of the family. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. on Friday at the church before the service. Donations Information In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church, 44 Spring St or Regional Hospice of Danbury.
