Obituary of Arthur P. Daube

Arthur P. Daube February 03, 1932 - March 09, 2010 Arthur P. Daube, 78 years, of New Fairfield, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on March 9th. He was born on February 3, 1932 in Englewood NJ to Ruth and Edward Daube. Besides his wife Lorraine (Cavalli) of 55 years, he will be sadly missed by his five children and 11 grandchildren. Including, his son Arthur, and wife Cheri and their sons Matthew and Scott of Dallas, PA.; daughter Wendy Hunt, husband Ed Webb, and her daughter Lauren, all of Brookfield, and her daughter Jennifer Trocolla and her husband Lance Corporal Allan Trocolla of Camp Lejeune, NC; his son James and wife Sheila and their children James, Erin, and Ian of Poway, Ca.; his son Daniel of New Fairfield and his son Arthur of Fairgrove, Mo.; and his daughter Kathleen Freund and husband James and their children Dylan, Spencer and Casey of Southbury. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings June Hartmann, Edward Daube and Ruth Barnes. Arthur graduated from Nyack High School in Nyack, NY and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 in 1949. A Veteran of the Korean War, he was trained as a Naval Aviations Electrician and served aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard and the USS Oriskany. He was honorably discharged in 1953 as a Petty Officer First Class. Arthur and Lorraine married and began their family in NJ and moved to New Fairfield in 1962. He studied Engineering at the CT State Technical Institute while he was employed by D & S Pump and Supply of Brewster, before becoming the Vice President of their subsidiary, Waterguard, Inc. From 1982 until retiring in 2004 he was a self employed manufacturer's sales representative. While his family was young, he was an active member of the Danbury YMCA and the New Fairfield Summer Swim Team program. He enjoyed Candlewood Lake; especially boating and ice skating, as well as camping and scuba diving in Rhode Island. His hobbies also included target shooting at Wooster Mtn. Range, treasure hunting for antiques and collectibles with his wife, and spending time with his children and grand children. Over the years he has enjoyed the company of many four legged friends and leaves behind his current little dogs, Oscar and Chi Chi. The family would like to thank Dr. David Oelberg of Danbury Hospital for his continued care and support over many years. They would also like to thank Gerard Lamoureux and Joanne Libria and the staff of Hospice for their compassionate care in making Arthur's final days peaceful and comfortable in his home. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 16th between the hours of 5pm to 8pm.
