Obituary of John Louis Arceri

John Louis Arceri August 27, 1937 - November 15, 2006 John Louis Arceri, 69, entered into the arms of God at his home in Portland, on Wednesday, November 15th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Rose, family and friends. John was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 27, 1937, son of the late Louis and Giraloma (Augello) Arceri. Mr. Arceri resided in Bethel for 32 years before moving to Portland in March of 2006 to be closer to his children. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, traveling, gardening, and spending time with his family. John worked at Ethan Allen for forty years before having to retire due his illness. He was an Army Veteran and a member of St. Mary Church in Bethel for many years. In addition to his wife, Rose (Giammalvo) Arceri, he will be sadly missed by his son Louis Arceri and his wife, Linda of Bridgeport; his two daughters Geraldine Rapela and her husband Andres of Dover, MA, and Tonianne Bankoski and her husband Brian of Portland; his five special grandchildren, Sean and Julia Marie Rapela, , Ava Rose, Ella and Clare Bankoski; his sister, Maryann Yoegel and her husband Bill of Westchester, PA; and several nieces and nephews. John will be deeply missed by those who will forever cherish his memory. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church, 51 Freestone Avenue in Portland, CT. Burial in Swedish Cemetery, Portland, will follow. Relatives and friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, November 17th between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henry Zowine Family, 63 Milwaukee Ave, Bethel, CT. 06801. Henry Zowine, and two of his children, Zachary and Ashley, all suffer from Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder of the nervous system. Your donations will help to defray their costs of living with this disease.
