Obituary of Elsie Campbell

Elsie Campbell April 15, 1909 - April 30, 2009 Elsie Campbell, 100, a longtime Connecticut resident, affectionately called "Me'mere" by her loved ones, departed this world peacefully, in the presence of her family, on April 30th in Fayetteville, Ohio. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada on April 15, 1909, daughter of the late Fred and Alice Michaud. Elsie was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Miles Campbel. The two made their home in Norwalk, and later to Ridgefield, where they resided until Miles' death in 1969. Elsie led a remarkable life that took her from the Northeast, to the Colorado Rockies, California, and back to the East Coast and Ohio. While living in Brookfield, Elsie was an active member of the community, volunteering at Bethel Health Care and the Pope John Paul Center, where she often prayed the rosary with patients. She also sang in the choir at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church. Elsie's boundless energy, ready laugh, and superb cooking will be greatly missed by family and friends. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Rena, 9 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anita; her sister, Rena; brothers, Willard and Norman; and by two grandchildren. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. Interment will follow in St. John's/St. Mary's Cemetery in Norwalk. There are no calling hours. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Family Life Center.
