Williams, DPD, 56 of Danbury, loving husband of Rachel (Ruopp) Williams, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on November 10, 2010. "Bo Willie" will be remembered by many for his long tenure at the Danbury Police Department and as a volunteer assistant football coach at Danbury High School. Bob was born in Danbury on June 30, 1954, to Anna (DeJulia) Williams and the late Franklyn L. Williams. He was a Class of 1973 graduate of Danbury High School and graduated from the former Mattatuck Community College with an associate's degree in Criminal Justice. Bob was a 24 year member of the Danbury Police Department and loved his many roles which included detective in the youth bureau and in the general investigation unit, SWAT team member, PBA president, DPD Local 891 Union President and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Within the Danbury community Bob served on the PAL board of directors, the Danbury High School Hall of Fame and was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he notoriously sat at the back of the sanctuary for worship and served on the cemetery committee. Bob also spent much of his past 10 years at Danbury High School as a volunteer assistant coach where he had the responsibilities of coaching the defensive line and wide receivers. He was currently employed part-time at Union Savings Bank where he enjoyed the daily contact of his friends and the community. Bob is survived by his wife Rachel and his two sons, Danbury Police Officer Justin Williams, his wife Jessica, Eric Williams and his wife Katie, his daughter Sara Williams, and his "little pumpkin" granddaughter Audrey Williams. Bob is also survived by his mother Anna Williams, his brother Danbury Police Det. Sergeant Mark Williams and his wife Danielle, his two sisters Anne Marie Conroy and her husband, Donald and Gina Carreras and her husband 'Manny'; his godchildren, Russell, Christina, Anita and Jeffrey and his father-in law, Frederick R. Ruopp. He also was blessed with and leaves behind several aunts and uncles, a multitude of brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces and all of their children, in whom he so delighted. He had many passions in his life that brought him joy and defined his life, most especially his time as a Detective, coaching Danbury High School football and meeting up with his friends every morning at the Main Street Dunkin Donuts to start his day; but his greatest pleasure came from being with his family which included his closest friends.
