Obituary of Marthe A. Wilderman

Marthe A. Wilderman October 09, 1936 - February 19, 2006 Marthe Alix Wilderman, died on Sunday, February 19th at Bethel Health Care Center after an almost two year battle with cancer. She was born in Salisbury, England, October 9, 1936, to parents long deceased, namely H.H. Prince Ibrahim Fazil and Princess Kate Fazil, formerly Stevens. Ibrahim was born in Cairo, Egypt, to a Turkish father and French mother and educated in England. He later become a British citizen and served in World War II as major in the Royal Artillery. Kate was born to American parents in New York City and in order to escape the rigors of prohibition, fled to the spirited halls of London Town where she met and married Ibrahim. Mrs. Wilderman was lovingly known as Alix. She is predeceased by her husband of longstanding, Leo Charles Wilderman. She is survived by two sons, Jon Jay Wilderman of San Diego, CA and his wife, Sheryl, and Geoffrey Lee Wilderman of Brookfield. She has one brother, Captain Philip Foxwood (who changed his name from Fazil) of England, married to Mary with one son, Hugo. Alix's education was diverse: Her credentials consist of a French Baccalaureate, an English SRN (State Registered Nurse) and some American undergraduate work. She lived for many years in Paris, London, Cairo and New York, respectively. Her jobs were multiple and varied. As for community service, her most worthwhile endeavor was together with Judy Heise and others, back in the late eighties helping Bonnie Kish establish the Brookfield High School Swim Team. This was no mean feat since the high school does not have a pool. The swimmers got off to a slow start but gradually built up speed and momentum, becoming a force to be reckoned with as they rode the crest of waves, stroking their way to many a victory, leaving behind a formidable wake and their competitors in the dust. So, ashes to ashes, dust to dust and footprints in the sands of time. Funeral Information Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 25th at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm. Cremation will take place privately at the direction of the family. Donations Information 'Tis a far better rest I go to than I ever knew. Send me no flowers as I go gently into the night. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Praxair Cancer Center, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT. 06811, where I received wonderful care.
