Obituary of James E. Walsh

James E. Walsh February 26, 1920 - January 23, 2008 James E. Walsh, 87, of Danbury, devoted husband of Lillian C. (Winfield) Walsh, died peacefully in the presence of his loved ones on Wednesday, January 23rd at Pope John Paul Center for Healthcare. He was born in Fall River, MA on February 26, 1920, son of the late James A. and Margaret (Sullivan) Walsh. He was a graduate of Providence College. Mr. Walsh was a Veteran of World War II, serving as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He worked as treasurer for Picker International in White Plains for more than 36 years. Prior to moving to Danbury, Mr. Walsh was an active parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Katonah, NY. He enjoyed volunteering and taking part in fund raising for St. Mary's. He was a founding member of the Boy Scout Troop 166 in Katonah and was the troop's first Scout Master. He was also a past member of the American Legion in Katonah and the Knights of Columbus in Mount Kisco. He was currently a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Lillian, he will be sadly missed by his son, Jeffrey M. Walsh and his wife, Donna of New Fairfield; his three daughters, Deborah Walsh and Gary Nightingale of New Sharon, ME, Gail McPhee and her husband, Robert of Wilton, and Joanne D'Antonio and her husband, Michael of Bethel. He is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, Sean, Stephanie, Nicole, Riley, Emily, and Brenna; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Dan Walsh. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Interment in St. Peter Mausoleum will follow. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, January 25th between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00.
