Obituary of Brian William Tobin

Brian William Tobin Sr. April 26, 1958 - January 29, 2011 Brian William Tobin, Sr., 52, of Bethel, beloved husband of Mary (Flewellyn) Tobin, passed away unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, January 29th. He was born in Milford on April 26, 1958, son of Marion (McMenamey) Tobin and the late Joseph V. Tobin, Sr. He was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1976, and Western Connecticut State University. Mr. Tobin worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons at the FCI in Danbury. He served the agency approximately 20 years and was the Supervisory Contract Specialist. He also was a valued asset of Tobin Associates Property Management. Brian enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling to Cape Cod with his family. He was a devoted father and husband who was happiest when spending time with his family. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. There wasn't a person who met Brian, whose life wasn't changed for the better by knowing him. He will be remembered most as a loving son, brother, spouse and parent, as well as a loyal friend who will be missed by all. In addition to his cherished wife of 22 years, Mary, and his mother, Marion, he will be sadly missed by his two sons, Brian William Tobin, Jr., and Joseph Robert Tobin; his brother, Joseph V. Tobin, Jr., and his wife, Sharon of Bethel; his sister, Barbara DeRubertis and her husband, Ralph of Bethel; his nephews, Scott DeRubertis and his wife, Shannon, Ryan DeRubertis and his wife, Nicole, and Justin DeRubertis and his fiancé Kristi Rizzo; John David Murray, Jackson Flewellyn, and David Flewellyn and his nieces, Crystal Chandler and her husband, James; Cassandra Murray and Molly Flewellyn as well as his great niece, Adriana DeRubertis. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Wojciechowski from Florida; brother-in-laws, James Flewellyn and his fiancé Sarah Vazquez from Florida, and Donald Flewellyn from Georgia; and his sister-in-law, Deborah Murray and her husband, John from Georgia. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 4th at 11:00am at St. Mary Church in Bethel. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday between the hours of 5:00 to 8:00pm.
