Obituary of Arlene E. Stone

Arlene E. Stone August 11, 1923 - September 24, 2010 Arlene (McCoy) Stone went to heaven on Friday, September 24th surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 11, 1923 in Danbury to Frank and Bessie (Keenan) McCoy. Arlene attended St. Peter School, Danbury High School (1941) and Danbury Teacher's College (WCSU - 1944). She was proudly a school teacher for over thirty years, teaching at South School in Watertown, and both New Street School and South Street School in Danbury. Arlene cherished her time teaching and was exceptionally proud to have taught multiple generations of the same family. Upon retiring from classroom teaching in 1982, Arlene did what she loved best -- spend time with her grandchildren. Continuing to share her love of learning, Arlene taught religious education at Saint Marguerite Church in Brookfield. Besides her parents, Arlene is predeceased by her husband Philip Stone, brothers Francis (Bud) and Leo McCoy, sister-in-law Jennie McCoy, nephew Francis (Mac) McCoy. and several close friends. She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Evelynne & Paul-Alex Adams; her sister-in law Esther McCoy; her nephews Leo McCoy Jr., James (Debra) McCoy, William McCoy, Patrick (Amy) McCoy; her grandchildren Vickiann Adams, Philip & Melissa Adams, John & Jessica Adams; her two great grandsons Sean and Zachary Adams; Rachel Lebetkin, James Willett & Priscilla Lewis; several grand nieces and grand nephews and her beloved pets - Molly, Scooby & the cats. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
