Obituary of John R. Sonberg

John R. Sonberg August 16, 1910 - July 27, 2007 John R. Sonberg, age 96, of Crestview Drive, Brookfield, husband of the late Mary A. (Ingram) Sonberg, died at Bethel Health Care Center on Friday, July 27th. He was born in New Rochelle, NY on August 16, 1910, son of the late Laura (Randall) McGrath. Mr. Sonberg was a Lieutenant in the New Rochelle Police Department and retired after 25 years of service. He was an avid golfer well into his 90's and enjoyed fixing electronic equipment. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. He will be sadly missed by his three sons, James Sonberg and his wife, Sandy of Brewster, NY, John Sonberg and his wife, Marie Levy of Byram, and Robert Sonberg and his wife, Rita of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; his two stepdaughters, Debbie Williams of Brookfield, and Joanne Lampe and her husband, Donald of Brookfield. He is also survived by his nine grand children and four great grandchildren. In addition to his mother and wife, he was predeceased by his stepfather, James McGrath. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31st at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield on Tuesday morning between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30am.
