Obituary of Peter Joseph Socci

Peter Joseph Socci February 12, 1929 - October 11, 2005 Peter Joseph Socci, of Horseshoe Drive, Brookfield, devoted husband of Sally (Horne) Socci, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, October 11th after a short illness. He was born in New Canaan on February 12, 1929, son of Joseph and Antoinetta. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army from 1950 until 1952 and the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1959. Mr. Socci worked as a custodian for the Brookfield School System for fifteen years and as a part time employee of TR Paul Inc. of Newtown for thirty years. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Brookfield, the Brookfield VFW Post 10201; the Danbury Elks BPOE #120 and Amerigo Vespucci Lodge of Danbury. He loved sports - especially golf. He was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees and the UCONN Huskies men's and women's basketball teams. He loved his grandchildren with a passion. He loved to travel and had seen most of the United States and Italy in recent years. In addition to his wife of 30 years, Sally, he is survived by his son Charles S. Socci and his wife, Kristin of New York, NY.; his stepdaughter Linda M. Lyon of Yukon, OK.; stepson, Mark S. Lyon and his wife Carolyn of Brookfield; his nine grandchildren, Alexander and Norma Socci, Joshua and Nicolette Weed, Alexandra and Christopher Torres, Hannah, Sarah and Rebekah Lyon. He is also survived by his brothers, James Socci and his wife Vicki of New Canaan, Philip Socci and his wife Josephine of Stamford; his sisters, Raefael Pavlowski of Clearwater FL, Theresa "Tessie" Pinder of New Canaan, Anna Calitri and her husband John of New Canaan, Marie DiCostanzo and her husband Frank of Wilton, Joan Legenzowski and her husband Raymond of South Salem, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Joseph Peter Socci and a sister, Josephine Monroe. Funeral Information Memorial Services will be held at the Congregational Church of Brookfield on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11:00 am.
