Obituary of Carolyn P. Schulze

Carolyn P. Schulze September 23, 1933 - July 18, 2010 Carolyn Paulis Schulze, age 76, wife of Robert T. Schulze of Brookfield died peacefully at home with her family on Sunday, July 18, 2010 after a two-year battle with brain tumors; a battle she fought with courage and grace. Carolyn was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 23, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Ella V. and Joseph J. Paulis, Sr. She moved to Newtown as a young child and attended Newtown Schools. She graduated from Newtown High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader and known for her remarkable ice-skating talent. Upon graduation, Carolyn worked as a Teller in a Newtown Bank, then as a Service Representative for SNET in New Milford. After leaving SNET she became a Teller in a Brookfield Bank. In 1955 she married Robert T. Schulze at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury. From that point on Carolyn & Bob made their home in Brookfield. She worked in banking until their children arrived. At that point she stayed at home to raise them and didn't return to work until the children were teenagers. Carolyn then went to work at Prince of Peace Nursery School as a Teacher's Aide. After a few years she returned to banking as a Customer Service Representative for Union Savings Bank in Danbury. She was best known to her customers as the "lady with the pig décor" in her office. Carolyn loved her customers, all children and animals and they loved her in return! She had a natural ability to make whoever she came in contact with feel special and cared for. Carolyn retired from USB in 1996 to enjoy being with her grandsons and husband and spending time at her Florida condo where she and Bob were snowbirds. Carolyn was always on the go; a woman who loved to garden, paint, wallpaper, read, refinish furniture, knit, sew and to love and support her husband, children and grandsons. She could always be found on the sidelines cheering on Spencer and Tyler at their cross country track meets, baseball, basketball and football games with Bob by her side. She was their biggest fan! Besides her loving and devoted husband Bob, Carolyn leaves behind her dear children, son Michael R. Schulze of Florida and daughter Pamela A. and husband Joseph A. Mannion, III, and her two precious grandsons Spencer A. and Tyler J. Mannion all of Brookfield. She is also survived by her two brothers and their wives, George and Rosemary Paulis of Trumbull and Joseph and Laura Paulis of California, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Information Family and friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road on Tuesday, August 3rd from 5 to 8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 4 at 11am at St. Paul's Church, Route 25, Brookfield with interment to follow at the Village Cemetery in Newtown.
