Obituary of Lydia L. Scalzo

Lydia L. Scalzo July 04, 1920 - April 28, 2005 Lydia L. (Tomaino) Scalzo, 84, of Cleveland Street, Danbury, devoted wife of the late Albert J. Scalzo, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, April 28th. She was born in Decollatura Calabria, Italy on July 4, 1920, daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina Tomaino. She made her home in Danbury in 1937. Mrs. Scalzo worked as an electronic assembler for Amphenol in Danbury for fifteen years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church and enjoyed being a member of the Rosarian Prayer Group. She was also active in the Americo Vespucci Colonna Lodge where she was currently serving as Trustee. She was a member of the Brookfield YMCA and loved to travel, garden, entertain, and lived life to the fullest. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Louis F. Scalzo and his wife Marilyn of Bridgewater and Albert M. Scalzo and his wife, Phyllis of Louisville, KY; her daughter, Rose Marie Dalby and her husband Dennis of Leland, NC; her grandchildren, Kim Bartolomeo and her husband Nicola, Donna L. Scalzo, Joy Tabler and her husband, Michael, Michael Hatfield and his wife Anji, Laura S. Chism and her husband Todd, Michelle Rispole and her husband Joseph, and Mark Dalby. She is also survived by her five brothers, Antonio Tomaino of Italy, Mario, Joseph and Victor Tomaino of Danbury, and Arnie Tomaino of FL; her sister, Josephine Tomaino of Italy; her brother-in-law, Bernard Scalzo and his wife, Catherine of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews in the USA, Italy, Argentina, and Australia. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 10:00am. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, May1st between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm.
