Obituary of John J. Pesente

John J. Pesente October 03, 1922 - September 12, 2006 John J. Pesente, 83, of Sky Edge Lane, Bethel, devoted husband of Doris (Renner) Pesente, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, September 12th. He was born in Danbury on October 3, 1922, son of the late Andrew J. and Angeline (Gozzi) Pesente. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1940. Mr. Pesente was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving with the United States Army in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was well known for co-owning and operating Pesente & Sons Hardware in Danbury from 1948 until 1966. He retired from management of Caldor Inc, in Brookfield after 18 years of service. In his younger years he was a member of the Young Republican Club in Danbury. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church, Bethel. Mr. Pesente was a devoted family man. He and his wife Doris would have celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on September 19th. He adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his garden, fishing, and playing cards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, John A. Pesente and his wife, Mary of Whitman, MA, and Joseph P. Pesente and his wife, Joann of New Milford; his two daughters, Doris A. Anderson and her husband, Bob of Baltimore, MD, and Carley Pesente of Watertown. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Janet Pesente of New Fairfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ann Potter; and his brother, Paul Pesente. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, September 15th at 10:00am. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery with military honors, will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00pm. Donations Information Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association.
