Obituary of Michael Peter Oberndorfer

Michael Peter Oberndorfer October 04, 1966 - September 10, 2009 Michael Peter Oberndorfer, 42, of Bridgewater, devoted husband of Beth Oberndorfer and father of Anastazia, passed away on Thursday September 10th at Danbury Hospital after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Michael was born October 4, 1966 in Carmel N.Y. cherished son of James and Diana (Day) Oberndorfer of Brookfield. Michael worked as an architectural sheet metal salesman for Danbury Sheet Metal. He enjoyed coaching his daughter's softball team, the Shepaug Stars. His hobbies included collecting and restoring antique tractors, spending time in the outdoors, gardening and making his famous pickles. Michael was also a great practical joker who loved to make people laugh. He served as an honorary chairman for the Shepaug Valley Relay for Life in 2008. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and son-in-law. He was happiest spending time with Anastazia and sharing in her many interests. He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife and daughter. In addition, Michael proudly held the title of "Houndmaster to Heinz," his devoted dachshund. In addition to his cherished wife of 18 years, Beth, and his parents; he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Anastazia of Bridgewater, three brothers; Kyle Oberndorfer and wife Cheryl of Brookfield, Scott Oberndorfer and wife Marybeth of Glastonbury, Ryan Oberndorfer and wife Jennifer of Plymouth; his sister; Jennifer LaMont and husband Chris of Brookfield; his father and mother in law; Bill and Linda Bennett of Brookfield. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Donald and Jason; his Aunt and Uncle Dorna and Jon Persson and their family of Stratford; as well as his 11 nieces and nephews. Funeral Information The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15th between the hours of 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. at the Cornell Memorial home, 247 White St. Danbury. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family.
