Obituary of George Nault

George (Dude) Nault January 03, 1970 - March 26, 2010 George "Dude" Nault George "Dude" Nault, husband of Lisa and son of Roger Nault and the late Liana Nault, died on Friday, March 26. He was 40 years old. A lifelong resident of the Danbury area, George was known to a generation of Brookfield residents as "Dude," the happy kid with a talent for math and storytelling that ran the register at his parents' store, Lakeshore Grocery on Candlewood Lake Road. George attended St. Joseph's school in Brookfield and Brookfield High School, where he played football. At 5'11" and 265 lbs in his sophomore year, he played as a down lineman, but coaches let him run the ball in 1st-and-goal situations. As a boy, his father Roger and brother Ron taught him to hunt deer and over the years they collected a wall of trophies. George was a great dart and pool player. He loved to cook. He loved bonfires and camping and hosting family and friends at the family house in Vermont. He was a long suffering fan of the Washington Redskins. He made his living as a carpenter, and recently started a food delivery business. But his biggest skill was his way with people. His was gentle and kind and made others feel at ease. He loved to make people laugh and was good at it. Everyone who knew him thought he was their best friend. In November, 2003 a friend introduced him to Lisa Walker. Though she disliked his long hair and sweater vests, his politeness, and love of his family impressed her. He had hardworking hands. They were serious after a month or two. They dated for two years, and were married on October, 13, 2007. They held the reception in the backyard of their house in Woodbury. They hosted an annual crab cookout for dozens of relatives and friends dubbed "Dudefest." For many of them it was the highlight of the year, the one time when they all got together. He is survived by his wife, best friend and love of his life Lisa; his father, Roger; his sister Darlene and brother-in-law Monty Nebinger; his brother Ron, sister-in-law Joanne and their children Michael, Chelsey, Joe and Christina; his sister Michelle and brother-in-law Tom DeBenedetto and their daughters Aryanna and Gabrielle; as well as his nieces, Michelle, Kimberly and Kristina Walker and Jennifer Simpson; and nephew, Chris Walker. He was Godfather, second father and adopted brother to some, favorite uncle to many. He had many best friends. They will miss him dearly. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31st at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Tuesday evening between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm.
