Obituary of Michael Arthur Mazzia

Michael Arthur Mazzia June 11, 1932 - March 18, 2008 Michael Arthur Mazzia, of Danbury, passed away on Tuesday, March 18th at the age of 75. He was born in Danbury on June 11, 1932, the beloved son of the late Samuel and Rosemary (Gillotti) Mazzia. Spending all of his life in Danbury, he attended Danbury Schools and was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1950. He was a member of the football team and the school band. He attended the University of Hartford, majoring in music. As a young man he worked in his family's dry cleaning business, The Lincoln Avenue Cleaners. His talent and love for music made it possible for him to be a member of several local bands and while serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict to play in his Company's Band. Michael, a self employed Realtor and Real Estate Appraiser for more than 35 years, enjoyed his work. A member of the Independent Fee Appraisers (IFA), his service nationally and locally as a Director and in other positions gave him the opportunity to travel. He became acquainted with the many local and national Real Estate family whose personal friendships (as with his lifetime friends and family) he greatly valued. He is survived by his cherished children, daughter, Wendy Ann Haase and her husband Kenneth of San Ramon, CA; his two grandsons, Zachary and Lucas Haase, and his daughter Melissa Mazzei of Los Angeles, CA. While his physical presence will be missed, his generous and unconditional love for his children, grandchildren, and all his loved ones, Maggie, Cole, Chelsey, Ricky, Alex, their parents Darryl and Sheri, Richard and Zel, and Kathy will be held with joy in their hearts, keeping him eternally close. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, March 24th at 8:00pm with Deacon Bill Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
