Obituary of Jonathan Michael Rositano

JONATHAN MICHAEL ROSITANO

Born – August 8,1986

When Jon was born our lives changed forever. His smile, his laughter filled our heart with joy and transformed our house into a true home.

Jon grew up in Brookfield. He was energetic, inquisitive, and full of amazement as to how things were put together and worked. His passion as a child were  puzzles, baseball and the Ninja Turtles. His teams were the Yankees and Jets. He loved it when his family – his grandmother & Pop, his Uncles / Aunts and cousins would come for barbeques, holidays, and for no special reason. Jonathan was the oldest of his four cousins and the leader of the pack so there were a lot of jokes on Grandma & Grandpa by this group that were appreciated by all. We had a lot of good family times that gave Jon much happiness.

Jon became a multi-cultural person when at 7 years old we moved to Capetown in South Africa. He attended the local school and  quickly became the best cricket player on the team. We went on a few safaris where he let a chant on a night-time jeep venture stating, “We want to see the Cheetahs”.  Jon had a way of putting a smile on everyone’s face.

We came back to Brookfield and the adventure’s began. One day, Jon and his Grandfather were putting together a grill and Jon then proudly announced that he was going to be a mechanical engineer. He never considered any other profession and he definitely made the right choice. In high school there were the normal rebellious streaks but we loved seeing Jon slowly becoming his own person. He was a founding member of the Brookfield Robotic Club and played Varsity tennis driving his fellow tennis partners home after each daily practice.  His caring for everyone was one of Jon best endearing qualities.

There was only one college Jon wanted to attend and that was Drexel. He said he wanted to get out of the suburbs and experience City Living. He showed his athletic ability by making the Squash Team and helped them become a top 20 ranked team. He worked hard in school to succeed but had a lot of time to socialize and raise a little hell which he thankfully kept from his parents, but his friends would always tell us about it – like the time he did skydiving.  His experience in living in Philadelphia and attending Drexel formed the foundation for personal preferences and his professional career.  

He began his career at an engineering firm in New York City quickly establishing himself as a problem-solver and someone customers trusted. He explored the city including a memorable New Years eve party. But an opportunity arose at Belimo and he decided to come back to Danbury.

Jon has enjoyed the challenges of working for an international company since 2011 starting as a Product Control Engineer and then as a Verification Engineer. He travelled to Italy, China and Switzerland working with customers and vendors. He furthered his education obtaining a Master’s degree in Engineering.  Jon’s in-depth expertise in valve development and his humorous and sometimes sarcastic comments were greatly appreciated by those who worked with him.  He worked with many colleagues throughout Belimo forming close friendships and truly cherished these relationships.    

Jon was logical in his thought process, passionate in his approach to life and determined to always do his best in every situation. His humor was legendary as there were many times his parents, work colleagues  and  friends could not tell if Jon was serious until he said, Got-you, just kidding and everyone laughed. Life was now going great for Jon with a new townhouse, new car, new relationships, and a promotion at work to Team Leader. He was truly on his way to a happy, successful and fun life.

Jon was the answer to our prayers. He is the best part of our family and will be missed greatly by us and all who were fortunate to truly know him. His smile, when he did smile, lit up the room and his wit was sharp. He was a unique individual whose family and friends meant everything to him.

We are very proud of our son; of the man he is and what he accomplished in his short time with us.  We only wish there was more time to spend with our wonderful, funny, caring and loving son. We love you always and will never forget the joy you brought into our lives. 

Rest now with your grandfather and grandmother. Make them smile as you always did.
