Obituary of Robert P. Murphy

Robert P. Murphy, of Brewster, NY, died at New Milford Hospital on Monday, September 25, 2023.  He was born in the Bronx on June 12, 1942, son of the late Patrick and Bridget “Bessie” (Conlon) Murphy. 

Bob graduated from Bedford Park Academy in 1960.  He served in the National Guard from 1964-1970 and worked as a bus dispatcher for the NYC Transit Authority for many years.  He enjoyed fixing cars, naval history and a good bowl of ice cream.

He will be sadly missed by his three children, Deborah Close, Donna Murphy and Daniel Murphy and his wife, Dana; four grandchildren; Christina, Devon, Lucas & Molly and one great grandchild, Laura.  He is also survived by his brother, Michael Murphy and his wife, Mary Kay and his three nieces Holly, Patricia and Emily.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place at the Danbury Elks Lodge,36 Sugar Hollow Rd, on Saturday, November 11th from 3pm-7pm.
