Obituary of Patricia Josephine Sheppard
Bethel - Patricia Josephine (Earlis) Sheppard, age 93, daughter of Sabina and Thomas Earlis, courageously lost her battle with Alzheimer's on January 21, 2018 and was raised on Eagles wings to a place of comfort and peace. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen Maroney and son-in-law Jack, husband Walter, sisters Margaret, Anna (William), Winifred (Joseph), Catherine(Jack) Betty (Jack) and a most patient brother James (Mary). She leaves behind daughter Debra (Bob), grandsons Sean (Kristen) and Patrick, granddaughter Danielle and great granddaughters Jaidyn and Kylie. Extended family includes Shanna Strout (Brian) and children Elise and Logan.
Pat was a graceful Irish woman who was very proud of her heritage. She enjoyed dancing and singing and most of all her time with family; summers in Putnam Lake and the Club Harmony were among her favorites. She worked for years at AT&T in New York and afterwards at a private answering service in Brewster, NY, finishing out her career at Chocolate Lace; how fitting for a woman who could eat chocolate day and night.
She was born in the Bronx, where her whole family resided and we had the most wonderful childhood growing up. She took care of her Mom who lived only a short bit away as great Nana aged. She lived a difficult life growing up in the Depression era but it never seemed to damper her lovingness. Her numerous nieces and nephews were always very fond of "Aunt Pat's" caring heart and soft ways. She leaves a definite hole in the hearts of whomever came into her presence. She is at peace, dancing and singing with all those who awaited her.
The family would like to thank Filosa Nursing Home in Danbury for their utmost care, concern and love for Mom. She was an icon at the home and was known for her warm smile and little winks.
