Robert D. Johnson
December 10, 1925 - March 16, 2011
Robert D. Johnson, 85, a lifelong resident of New Fairfield, cherished husband of Joan (Weyrauch) Johnson, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 16th. He was born in Danbury on December 10, 1925, son of the late Albert and Antoinette (Penny) Johnson. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1944.
Bob worked in construction for the Operating Engineers Union, and later with his brother Richard Johnson. The first home he built was for his beloved bride and he continued to build many homes for his family
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who devoted his life to providing for his family. He enjoyed traveling the United States and vacationed with his family in 48 States. He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and was a member of the New Fairfield Historical Society. Bob loved country music, especially Eddie Arnold.
In addition to his cherished wife of 60 years, Joan, he will be sadly missed by his son, William Johnson and his wife, Luane of Georgia; his daughter, Amy Davis and her husband, Norman of Danbury; and three grandchildren, William Jr. and his wife, Carrie, Michael, and Lauren Johnson. He is also survived by his brother, Richard T. Johnson and his wife, Millie; his sisters, Dorothy Landsiedel and Shirley Porwitzki; his brother-in-law, Ray Williams; and sister-in-law, Victoria Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Katherine Johnson; his brothers, Oliver and Albert Johnson, Jr.; and his sister, Mabel Williams. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield on Monday, March 21st at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, March 20th between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00pm. Donations Information
