Obituary of Barbara Harris
Barbara Harris
April 09, 1929 - January 12, 2011
Barbara C. Harris, devoted wife of Arthur Hall Harris, (deceased), died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 12th at the age of 81. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 9, 1929, daughter of the late Harold F. Conner and Kathryn Kratz Conner. She graduated from Texas Women's College in 1951.
She was an Air Force officer's wife, who set up many loving homes across the country including Texas, Ohio, Delaware and Illinois before her husband retired from active duty. An avid letter writer, she cherished and maintained the many friendships that spanned decades and miles.
After settling in Brookfield, in 1969, her passions quickly became her church and quilting. She was a devoted member of the Congregational Church of Brookfield where she served in many roles, most notably co-chairing the quilt booth at the annual Yankee Fair. Run from home, her craft shop, The Calico Cat was an additional source of enjoyment.
Her pride and joy were her 4 children and 8 grandchildren who affectionately called her Namma. As her quilting friends and family will attest, she could not pass a fabric store or and ice cream shop without stopping.
She is survived by her son Glenn Harris, his wife Sandy of Freeburg IL and his daughter Katherine; her son Gordon Harris, his wife Linda of Shelton, and their children Brian, Alex and Jessica; Wendy Elsen of Brookfield, Tim Elsen and their daughters Bonnie Elsen and Debbie and her husband Steven Deas; Robin Murphy and her husband Mike of Brookfield, and their children Erin, Dan and his fiancé Lindsay Kosisko.
