Robert C. Soukup
August 16, 1939 - December 27, 2010
Robert (Bob) C. Soukup, age 71, of Danbury, (former resident of New Fairfield for 36 years) passed away on December 27, 2010 at Pope John Paul Nursing Home after a long and courageous 10 month battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Isobel (Sandy) (Williams) Soukup.
Bob was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on August 16, 1939, son of the late Vincent and Alma (Kaiser) Soukup. He grew up in White Plains, NY, graduated from White Plains High School and earned an Associates degree in Accounting from Westchester Community College. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Meteorologist and was stationed at White Sands Military Base in New Mexico.
Bob worked for Addressograph/Multigraph in Elmsford, NY and then went to work at IBM in the Accounting Department. He retired after 31 years as a Payroll Analyst. Upon his retirement, he started up Bob's Tax Service.
Bob is also survived by his son R. Scott and his wife, Barbara of Englewood Cliffs, NJ; a daughter, Wendy A. Surovy and her husband, Andy Jr. of Danbury; four grandchildren - Courtney, Kaitlyn, Matthew Surovy and Alexis Brown all of Danbury; two brothers, Vincent Soukup and his wife, Pat of Vero Beach, FL; Harold Soukup and his wife, Andrea of The Villages, FL; nieces, Karla Hines and her husband Shawn of Coral Springs, FL; Kathryn Smith and her husband, Dean of Pooler, GA; Nancy Soukup of Ossining, NY; Patty Soukup of Baltimore, MD; a nephew, Vinnie Soukup and his wife, Lisa of Middletown, NY; as well as great nieces/nephews - Ashley, Abigail, Rebekah, Brennan, and Vinny. A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00am.
Internment will be held at the convenience of the family.
