Obituary of Rose M. Kovacs

With deep sadness, Rose Marie Kovacs, 90, of Danbury, went home to the Lord on May 21, 2023  surrounded by her loving family after a very brief illness.

Rose was born July 31, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to Jenny and Fred Pascarelli.  She was one of seven children. Rose was the devoted wife and “forever bride” of the late James W Kovacs, Sr. and they would have been married 63 years this month.

She is survived by her children James Jr. “Jimbo” Kovacs, Linda Kovacs, and Larry (Laurine) Kovacs as well as her four beautiful granddaughters Shayna (Marco) Osimanti, Lauren (Ted) Kostopoulos, Jordan Rose Kovacs, and Taryn Rose Terracino, sister Frances Kelly and her forever daughter-in-law Alice Corso, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose was one special lady and will be missed by many. Her enduring faith, devotion and generosity will be cherished forever.  Her kindness, her caring and her strength had a very strong influence on her family, and whomever was graced by her friendship. Rose was the epidemy of selfless love.  Her core values and old school traditions had begun at a very young age and played an intricate role in each of her endeavors. She loved to cook and welcomed everyone to her table, one where no one ever left hungry. Her meatballs are a true legend around town and cannot be matched no matter how hard anyone tried to duplicate the recipe.

Very active in her church, she volunteered in the kitchen at St. Peter’s Church Bingo for over a decade and looked forward to seeing her friends every Wednesday night.  She loved her “scratchies” and an occasional trip to the casino. Nothing compares to how excited she was to hear the spin of the Wheel of Fortune slot machine, or shimmering up to a three-card poker table.

Rosie will be missed and forever loved by all who were blessed to have crossed paths with her.  She will hold a special place in the hearts of many and her traditions will carry on for generations to come.

The family would like to thank everyone that cared for her in her time of need for their devotion and kindness, our special thanks to her friend Winnie at Danbury Hospital who treated mom with the utmost respect and care.

A memorial mass will be held at St Peter’s Church, 104 Main Street, Danbury CT at 10:30 am on June 2, 2023. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
