Obituary of Trevor Balloch

Trevor Balloch, beloved son, husband, and father, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2023, in Brookfield, Connecticut, USA. Trevor is survived by his devoted parents, Sandra and James Balloch of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, his loving wife, Martha Cahill Balloch, and his greatest joys, his children, Sinéad Sandra Balloch and Ian Kevin Balloch. Trevor was predeceased by his brother Kevin Balloch and is survived by his nieces, Kirsty, Leanne, and Connie Balloch.

Trevor was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on December 21, 1968, and as a born-again believer, gave his heart to the Lord at age 14. He began traveling and exploring the world at 18, eventually joining Crystal Cruises. During his career as Officer and Chief Accountant, he visited over 100 countries. Trevor met Martha Cahill, his soulmate, in Scotland. They worked together in Germany and settled in Texas, where Trevor would leave his cruise ship days behind to marry Martha. Martha and Trevor shared a love of travel, making many friends along the way, and the grief over the loss of Trevor is being shared by friends and family around the world.

Trevor became a father, with the birth of Sinéad, while he and Martha were living in Ohio. Shortly afterward, they moved to Brookfield and welcomed the birth of Ian. No father could have been prouder of his children than Trevor was of Sinéad and Ian. He was a dedicated father who loved his children with all his heart. Ian and Sinéad attend University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Trevor made sure they were together and flourishing and was always just a phone call away.

For the past 20 years, Martha and Trevor have called Brookfield their home. Here, they embraced their neighbors, who have become an extended family. Trevor also had many close friends at his workplace, Willis Towers Watson. Trevor spent as much time as possible boating with family, friends, and the much-loved family dog, Mickey, on Candlewood Lake. His favorite memories are with “Gramps and Grandma” during their visits to Brookfield.

From his family to his large community of friends, Trevor will be remembered as selfless. He consistently put the needs of others ahead of his own. Trevor was an attentive host, and if you were with Trevor, you knew you were going to have a good time and be looked after. Trevor was kind, charming, and fun-loving. He was an incredible cook, and his light-hearted, yet sarcastic wit was contagious.

Trevor was an irreplaceable friend and a son, husband, and father who would do anything for his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield, CT, with the Rev. George O'Neill, Pastor, officiating.  The family may be greeted at 10:30 am at the church.  Mass will follow and will also be live-streamed beginning at 11:00 am EDT; www.stjosephbrookfield.com.

Trevor was committed to his children’s education. In Trevor’s memory and in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to @Balloch-Scholarship on Venmo in support of their studies.
