Obituary of Robert Fleming

Robert Wayne Fleming (Bob) died at Saint Joh Paul II, in Danbury, CT on December 04, 2022 at the age of 66.  Bob was born February 10, 1956 in Miami, Fl to the late Howard Wayne and Mona Mary (Toolin) Fleming.  He is also predeceased by his brother William H. Fleming, and brother in law, Douglas A. Nebinger.

Bob and his family moved to Ridgefield, CT in 1966 and attended Ridgefield Schools.   He was a veteran of U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged June 1981.  He worked as a security guard at Union Carbide for many years and then worked at Sears and retired, was disabled because of health issues. He later was diagnosed with throat cancer 10 years ago, and remained cancer free but was again diagnosed 2 years ago.  He passed as a result of a complication.  He was brave and strong, enduring what many could not.

Bob’s Ridgefield neighbors and friends loved him and will always remember him as a blithe spirit with a childlike quality.  He loved all animals more than his El Camino that blared Bob Seager throughout the neighborhood.  He would ride Blaze through the Keeler fields like the wind.

He once rescued a baby raccoon after its mother was hit by a car.  On the way to the veterinary hospital, he let the baby raccoon crawl under his jacket to stay warm.  He was truly a kind soul who always helped others in need.

Above all, Bob honored and adored his mother, Mona, caring for her for many years, she was his top priority.  All who knew him witnessed his loving sacrifice for her and worth as an admirable human that gave unselfishly. Our brother, uncle, friend and neighbor Bob will be sorely missed for his simple, kind and good soul.

Rest in Peace angel, say “Hi” to Mona, Billy, your dogs Taunus, Tao and Blaze.  We were quite blessed to have known him, love Craig and Debbie.

Robert will be sadly missed by his siblings Diane G. Nebinger, Dona M. DeGrazia and brother in law, Emilio DeGrazia, his brothers Howard W. Fleming, Jr. and Barry J. Fleming.  He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Bryn Garcia, Bethany Hanna, Emily DeGrazia, Miles DeGrazia, Madeline DeGrazia, Sasha Duff, Ethan Fleming and Tess Fleming.

In keeping with Roberts wishes, a memorial donation to the ASPCA would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 28th at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield at 2pm. The burial will be held in the spring at the Ridgebury Cemetery with military honors.
