Obituary of Salvatore Perugini, Sr.

Waterbury – Mr. Salvatore Perugini, Sr., age 88, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 1, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marion (DiLeo) Perugini.

 

Sal was born June 18, 1932 in Pontelandolfo, Italy son of the late Ferdinando and Nicolina (Perugini) Perugini. He was retired after working for many years as a stone mason with Albini Construction and Alpha Construction. He was a member of the Pontelandolfo Community Club and enjoyed fishing, ice fishing and gardening.

 

Sal proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.

 

Sal is survived by his children: Susan Kogelis and her husband Robert of Grandview, TN, Michael Perugini, Sr. and his wife Josephine of Prospect and Salvatore Perugini, Jr. and his wife Judith of Prospect, his sister: Pierina Rinaldi of Waterbury.  His grandchildren: Sabrina Kogelis-Innes and her husband Thomas III, Aaron Kogelis and his wife Ashley, Michael Perugini, Jr. and his wife Haleigh, John Perugini and Alexis Perugini, his great grandchildren: Khrystalyn, Tommy, Jayden, Ellie and Brynlee and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind  his sister in law: Louise Carlotto and her husband Jim of Vermont, his brother in law: Joe DiLeo and his wife Claire of Waterbury.   He was predeceased by his sisters: Josephine Volpe and Michelina Mucciacciaro.

The family would like to thank Nemide Kelmendi, Sal’s caretaker, for her extra ordinary care she gave Sal during his illness.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at  11 a.m. at St Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.  Sal’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday June 8, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. All attending are asked to please wear a mask and observe social distancing. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
