Obituary of Diane Fitch

Diane (Dury) Fitch, 77, of Bethel, formerly of Ridgefield, wife of the late Frank Fitch, left our earth peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 22nd. She was born in Cape May, NJ, daughter of the late Kenneth K and Ella (Conklin) Dury. Diane worked for many years as a sales executive for Beiersdorf USA in Wilton, CT. She was President of the Women’s Association of Women in the Metals Industry. As much of her earlier career was as a sales executive in New York City. Diane was a longtime resident of Ridgefield and was active with Founders Hall. Her many hobbies included painting and knitting. Growing up she was an avid water skier and ballerina. While raising her family she developed a love for Racecars, and Sailing. She drove her Porsches with pride at a comfortable pace for sure and attended events at Lyme Rock Park — she loved it. Her sailing lessons and being part of a crew was a wonderful time in her life. She enjoyed playing cards and had a keen ability to count cards (she would often let us win to keep us engaged) and putting together puzzles showing us the strategies like sorting pieces into groups of colors and patterns, assemble the border, and focus on a few shapes. If you were within earshot of her on April Fool’s, it was a fair day for her hijinx in a surprisingly elegant way. By far her favorite time was spent with her 3 Grandchildren whom she loved beyond words. Having such a close bond with her Grandchildren brought her joy beyond measure. She encouraged them to have fun and find a way to do what you love and do it well. Diane was beautiful, smart, loyal, patient, and creative. Above all she was incredibly kind. She will be sadly missed by her two children, Mark Fitch and his wife, Jeanne, and Audrey Favreau and her husband Carey, with whom she recently made her home; and her three grandchildren, Max and Ian Fitch, and Hannah Favreau. Due to COVID a celebration of Diane’s life will be held privately
