Obituary of Christine Ann Gaudio

Christine A. Gaudio, 76 of Brookfield CT passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2021 at Danbury Hospital. Christine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister, and friend.

She was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY on February 13th, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Evelyn A. Peterson Jacobs and Arthur O. Peterson. She was the oldest of four children. As a young girl & expatriate she attended elementary school in Caracas, Venezuela. After returning to the states, she graduated from Stamford High in 1962, where she met and fell in love with her husband Eugene of 56 years.

Christine treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Her pleasant & vivacious personality was contagious to everyone she met. She worked at Ship Shape Cleaners in Brookfield, CT for over 40 years and loved her customers most of whom became lifelong friends.  The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Christine. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, who would watch games on the edge of her seat, rooting for her favorite player Derek Jeter. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite musician Andrea Bocelli or watching The Hallmark Channel.

Christine’s cheerful attitude and bright smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Eugene Gaudio, their three children Kimberly (Michael) Smeriglio, of Brookfield, Michael (Amy) Gaudio, of New Milford and Steven Gaudio, of Brookfield her grandchildren Andrew (Elyse) Gaudio, of Milford and Madisyn and Gavin Gaudio, of New Milford and her great grandson Mason Jeremy Gaudio. She is also survived by her brothers David (Lorna) Petersen, Paul (Rosemary) Petersen, and sister Mary Jacobs, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and grandson Jeremy James Wildman.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Funeral services and burial for Christine will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
