Obituary of Barbara Jean Millard

Barbara Jean Millard, 80, of Danbury, devoted wife of the late Henry A. Millard, Sr., passed away on Thursday, December 24th at Danbury Hospital.  She was born in Chestnut, Louisiana on August 16, 1940, daughter of the late Eugene and Catherine (Godwin) Mathews.

Upon retiring from Amphenol she began working as a program assistant for Almost Home Adult Daycare and continued up until the pandemic forced her to stop.

At the age of 16, Barbara married her beloved Hank and the two made their home and raised their family in Danbury. Besides working full time and raising her family you would always find her on the weekends helping her husband at his shop, Hank’s Bait and Tackle.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She made each and every one of her family members feel special and unique.

She will be sadly missed by her three children, Henry A. “Hank” Millard, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Donna Jurgens and her husband, Andy, and Terry Harper; her eight grandchildren, Andrew Millard, Candice Troiano, Katie Rose Martins and her husband, Carlos, Amanda Jurgens, Shannon Haisley and her husband, Eric, Matthew and Joshua Francisco, and Jessica Harper. Her six great grandchildren Simon, Cody, Nathan, Stacy, Harley and Gryffin.

She is also survived by her brothers, Charles Mathews and Jimmy Mathews and his wife, Glenda; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, funeral services and burial in Wooster Cemetery will be held privately.

Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
