Obituary of John A. Luicci

Danbury – Mr John A. Luicci, age 87, of Danbury, formerly of New York City, died Monday November 30, 2020 at Danbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Josephine H. “Jo” Luicci for 51 years.

John was born on August 21, 1933, son of the late Celia (Rosen) Luicci and Mariano Luicci. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and attended Fordham University. He was employed by the N.Y.C. Department of Motor Vehicles and retired from the N.Y.C. Police Department and the U.S. Postal Service. He was a World War II buff and an avid baseball fan. He was a member of the Western Connecticut Umpires Association and an official baseball umpire. He was blessed with the ability to tell jokes which brought laughter and delight to others.

During his working and retirement years, John served as a Big Brother, volunteered at Danbury Hospital and the Glen Hill Center, and read weekly with his wife Jo, to the blind and print handicapped on CRIS radio. He was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church in Danbury, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Men’s Spiritual Group. He also served as the Public Relations Officer for the Connecticut Federation of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and Legislative Chairman of its local Chapter 2069.

Mr. Luicci’s family will receive family and friends at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury on Friday December 4, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
