Obituary of Elfriede Margaret Haitsch

Elfriede Haitsch, 83, of Danbury, wife of William D. Haitsch, died at her home on Monday, March 13, 2019.  She was born in  New York, New York on October 14, 1935, daughter of the late Alfred and Elsa (Werner) Peuckert.  She was a long time, active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury. 

 

Friede enjoyed working at the front desk at the Danbury Public Library for many years.   She loved attending weekly Bible study.  Friede always wore a smile and shared her friendly nature.  She always found the best in others, and was loved by many. 

 

In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, William, she will be sadly missed by her three sons, Steven Haitsch and his wife, Debbie, David Haitsch and his wife, Deanna Pudelko-Haitsch, and Paul Haitsch and his wife, Robin; her grandchildren, David, Andrew, Jenna, Hannah, Megan and Ethan Haitsch.  She is also survived by her niece, Lydia Wasserman and her husband, Jim; her nephews, John and Thomas Groissl; her sister-in-law, Sharon Benson and her husband, Chris; and her brother-in-law, John Groissl. 

She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Groissl. 

 

Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, on Tuesday, March 19th at 11:00am.  Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday between the hours of 5:00-7:00pm.

 

Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School or to the Family Life Center.
