Obituary of Barbara Jean Bruckenthal

Cape Coral, Florida – Mrs. Barbara Jean (Kearns) Bruckenthal, age 80, of Fripp Island, S.C., Cape Coral, FL and formerly of New Fairfield, CT, died Thursday December 27, 2018 at the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.

Barbara was born in New Haven on June 24, 1938, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (O’Donnell) Kearns. She was retired after owning and operating a liquor store for many years and was a former communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in New Fairfield.

Barbara is survived by her children: Monte Bruckenthal and his wife Sandy of Brewster, N.Y., Hindee Bruckenthal of Purchase, N.Y., Dan Wright and his wife Debbie of Scarborough, ME, Joanann Shepard and her husband David of Fripp Island, S.C., Robert Wright and his wife Nancy of Naugatuck, Judy Cain and her husband David of Cape Coral, FL, Jim Wright and his wife Anna of Henderson, NV and David Bruckenthal and his wife Marie of Danbury, her sisters: Joan Adesso of N.Y. and Patricia Callas of N.Y., her brother: William Callas of N.Y, 18 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son: Chris Wright and her late husbands: Carl Yeager and Max Bruckenthal.

Barbara’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. Danbury on Friday January 4, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church  in New Fairfield on Saturday January 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield.
