Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Mussgnug
Elizabeth “Betty” Mussgnug, 95, of Danbury, beloved wife of 63 years to the late Adolph H. Mussgnug, died peacefully at Maplewood of Stony Hill on Monday, October 8, 2018. She was born in Manhattan, NY on June 3, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Taborsky) Wachtel.
In her younger years Betty worked as a stenographer and was proud to have attained the status of head of the typing pool. Her career continued throughout her life in various administrative positions for companies including MetLife, Barden and Heli-Coil. During the 1950's and 60's, alongside her husband, Al, the two developed, owned and operated Hemlock Shores on Candlewood Lake.
A talented needle worker, she enjoyed sewing, crochet, rug hooking, and crewel embroidery.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, and spend time with her loved ones. Her family is blessed by many cherished memories.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Jim Mussgnug and his wife, Pat of Clifton Park, NY; her daughter, Pam Tichon and her husband, Paul of Newtown; and her four grandchildren, Karl Mussgnug and his fiancé, Emma, Erich Mussgnug and his wife, Kellie, Dan Tichon and his wife, Sara, and Jen Tichon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, October 12th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Great Plain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening between the hours of 6:00-8:00pm.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
