Obituary of Lola L. Blakely
Danbury – Mrs. Lola L. (Thorpe) Blakely, age 87, of Danbury, died Sunday July 22, 2018 at the St. John Paul II Center in Danbury, She was the wife of the late Oliver Blakely.
Mrs. Blakely was born February 4, 1931 in Norwalk, daughter of the late Elijah and Marjorie Thorpe. She retired in 1993, after working for over 20 years, as an assembler at Amphenol Inc. She was affectionately known as “Gram” to all who knew her and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking especially on holidays, always making enough to feed whoever may stop by. Her specialty was fried chicken.
Mrs. Blakely is survived by three daughters: Michelle Blakely of Danbury, Sandra Hopkins and her husband Timothy of Danbury, and Wanda Blakely of Danbury, her grandchildren: Enisha Blakely of Woodland Hills, CA, Jacqeem Council and his wife Isamar of New York, Angelo Marrero of Danbury, Tashima Blakely of Danbury, Shayna Christie and her husband Sherrod of Danbury, Dimitre Hopkins of Danbury and three great grandchildren. She also was predeceased by her son: Ronald Blakely and has one surviving aunt Marilla Crowder.
Mrs. Blakely’s family will receive family and friends at the New Hope Baptist Church, 12 Aaron B Samuels Blvd., Danbury on Saturday July 28th, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday July 28, 2018 at 11a.m. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury at the convenience of the family.
