Obituary of Leroy Johnson
Leroy Johnson, "LJ" 77, of Waterbury, formerly of Danbury, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, July 19th. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on February 9, 1941, son of the late Annie Mae Perrin and stepfather, John.
Mr. Johnson graduated with a degree in Human Service and worked for many years as a direct care worker for the State of Connecticut. He enjoyed watching Westerns, action films, and especially enjoyed Jet-Li. LJ was fashionable, a Jordan lover, and his car of choice was always a Cadillac. He loved to dance and made everyone laugh. He was wise and taught a lot of people many valuable lessons.
A loving father, he will be sadly missed by his five children, Carolyn Timmons (Tyrone), Mary Johnson (Wells), Leroy Jr., Robert, and LaCresia Johnson; twelve grandchildren; and a few great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Annette Sullivan (Roger), extended family, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Jimmie O., and William Johnson; and his sister Dorothy Early.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 26th at 11:00am. at Victory Christian Church, 23 Eden Drive, Danbury. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning between 10:00am - 11:00am.
