Obituary of Nicholas Henry Piteo
Nicholas H. Piteo, 96, of Armonk, NY, beloved husband of Joyce (Downey) Piteo, died peacefully at Laurel Ridge in Ridgefield on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was born in Springfield, MA on May 21, 1922, son of the late Antonio and Angelina (Porta) Piteo. He was a graduate of Kansas State College and received his Masters in Civil Engineering from Yale University.
Mr. Piteo was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving with the United States Army Air Corp as a First Lieutenant in the 509th.
He began his career with Exxon Corp in New York City, and retired 40 years later from the Pelham, NY office Asphalt Division as an upper executive.
Mr. Piteo was a founding parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Armonk, NY.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, his family was the most important part of his life.
In addition to his cherished wife of 72 years, Joyce, he will be sadly missed by his son, Rickey Piteo and his wife, Carol of Yorktown Heights, NY; his twin daughters, Tita Niesz and her husband, Craig of Danbury, and Toni Havel and her husband, Robert of Brewster, NY; his seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 17th at St. Patrick Church, 29 Cox Ave, Armonk, NY. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
