Obituary of Irene Rousseau
Mrs. Irene Maude August (Dachenhausen) Rousseau, age 89, of the Bethel Health Care Center, formerly of 18 Cozy Hollow Road, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday May 24, 2018. She was the widow of Richard Rousseau.
Mrs. Rousseau was born in Danbury on August 4, 1928 daughter of the late Alfred and Alma (Koch) Dachenhausen. She retired after working many years at Blackstone ind of Bethel. She enjoyed gardening and was a very talented artist whose artwork meant the world to her.
Irene was the most caring, loving Mother, Grandmother, neighbor and Friend to everyone. She could bring a smile to all of our faces. Her love was unconditional to all including all of her caretakers. Her love and the smiles that she brought to everyone will be everlasting.
Mrs. Rousseau is survived by her sons: Dale B. Baker of Westport and David L. Rousseau of Brookfield, her daughter: Dawn I. Smith of Lenoir, NC, her sisters: Johanna Whittlesley of Bethel and Ruth Soderston of Florida, 5 grandchildren: David L. Rousseau, Jr., Derek B. Rousseau of Bethel, Justin Smith, Jesse Smith of NC and Colin Baker, 5 great grandchildren, son-in-law: Ronnie Smith of NC and daughter-in-law Sherri Baker of Westport and several nieces and nephews, along with many more family members and friends that she loved all dearly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rousseau will be held on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 9:30a.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will be in Umpawaug Cemetery in Redding. Mrs. Rousseau’s family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Friday June 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.
