Obituary of Edith Mary Kelley

Edith M. Kelley, of Bethel, formerly of Danbury, 95, wife of the late George Kelley, died peacefully at Bethel Healthcare on May 19, 2018.  She was born on April 18, 1923 in Irthlingboro, England.

A World War II war bride, she supported her husband’s  Air Force career by moving to the States and throughout the country while raising her family.

After retiring from Southbury Training School where she worked as a cottage aide, she and George spent their time traveling and with family. She always said that raising her family was the best years of her life and would do it all over again if she had the chance.  She was a beloved member of The Cascades and Bethel Healthcare communities.

She will be sadly missed by her nine children, Richard (Janice), Elaine Schultz (Robert), Danny (Patricia), Janice Postell, Christine Nugent (Jack), Stephen (Susan), Patrick (Nora), Michael (Wendy), James (Melanie); sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Craig Bernardo and Lauren Kelley and son in law Hayward Postell.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses, aides and staff at The Cascades and Bethel Healthcare.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St.  Danbury on Thursday, May 31st between 4:00-7:00pm.  Funeral Services and burial in St. Mary Cemetery will be held privately.
