Obituary of Evelyn Buckley
Evelyn Ann (Rotella) Buckley, 96, of Danbury wife of the late Ralph William Buckley Sr. died peacefully in her home on Monday, April 16, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Danbury. Born on October 31, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Madeline (Torielli) Rotella and sister of the late Louis F. Rotella.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Ralph Jr., her daughter-in-law, Renee, her granddaughter Ava. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Irene D. Rotella, her nephew Perry Rotella, her 2 nieces, Anna Marie Dufresne and Irene Roth, along with 7 grandnieces and grand nephews.
A graduate of Danbury High School, Evelyn was a past president of the Danbury branch of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for many years in the Lee Hat Factory and then as an Executive Secretary for the Amphenol Corporation. She was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her ardent devotion to her family and her playful sense of humor. She was a voracious reader, who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was also an avid lifelong New York Yankees fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 20th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday morning between the hours of 8:30 and 9:30am.
