Obituary of Otto Gust
Otto Gust, of Ridgefield, beloved husband of Gisela (Meinhardt) Gust, died peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Regional Hospice and Homecare in Danbury, surrounded by his family. He was born in Poland on August 13, 1934, son of the late Edward and Helene (Grunwald) Gust.
Otto was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury where he was active in lay ministry, visiting shut-ins, and was an Elder of the church.
He was a talented blacksmith specializing in ornamental ironworks. He owned and operated New England Craft Center, Inc in Danbury for many years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Bowling League and the German Arian Singing Society.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Gisela, he will be sadly missed by his son, Roger Gust and his wife, Bonnie; his daughter, Christina Gust; four grandchildren, Aaron, Valerie, and Zachary Gust, and Christian Gust Kozak; and his sister, Aurelie Becker.
Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, on Tuesday, March 20th at 12:00pm. Burial in St. Peter Church Cemetery, Warwick, NY will take place in the spring.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday morning between the hours of 10:30 - 12:00pm.
