Obituary of Robert Charles Hau

Robert Charles Hau, of Danbury, beloved husband of Mary Ann, passed away suddenly on December 10th at 69 years of age.  He was born February 2, 1946 in Weehawken, NJ.  He joins his parents, William and Edith and his sister Sandra in heaven. As a child he loved to play with his dogs, fish and spend time outside.

Robert leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Ann, of forty years.  They met at Sperry in Lake Success, NY.  After they married, they moved to Naugatuck to raise their three children.  They spent their retirement years on Candlewood Lake enjoying time with family.  They also fulfilled their dreams as globe traveling lovebirds.  Wonderful memories they shared include trips to Italy, France, National parks of America, and the Caribbean.

He leaves behind three children, Valerie Fortney (Matt), William (Emily) and Robert (Elaine) and six grandchildren- Katelyn, Aaron, Eric, Bradley, Catherine and Jacob. Extended family who will miss him dearly include his brother in law Thomas (Marlene), nieces Christine, and Kerry Ann, and nephews Timothy (Jennifer) and Thomas. Fond family memories revolved around his love of fishing and waterskiing on Candlewood Lake.

He was an Eagle Scout, Veteran of the Navy and an engineer for Sperry, Lorad and Hologic. He loved to plan his garden every year on graph paper, and monitor the weather and changes in barometric pressure. His family enjoyed the products of his labor: delicious tomatoes and a meticulously manicured lawn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 15th at 12:00 (Noon) at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, with full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Monday December 14th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm and again on Tuesday morning between 10:00 and 11:30am.

Special thanks to the medical personnel who tried to save Robert and caring nurse who comforted Mary Ann at Danbury Hospital in her time of need.
