Obituary of Walter Frank Piech
Walter Frank Piech, 50, of Waterbury, died at Regal Care in Waterbury on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with Type 1 Diabetes. He was born in New Milford on May 27, 1967, beloved son of Alexander F. Piech, Sr., and Patricia P. Graham. He was known to his family and friends as Wally.
Wally was a talented carpenter who enjoyed doing finish trim work and fancy trim work. He was a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed working for many area companies, including New Milford Nursing Home, Mediplex in Danbury, Mitchell Gas Station, and as a landscaper for Mr. George Bonus.
He was happiest when working for Danbury Building and Lumber Co. Even after he lost most of his sight he could identify a piece of wood by touch.
Wally loved motorcycles, rebuilding dirt bikes, watching NASCAR and wrestling.
The love of his life was Margaret Wilmont, his companion and best friend for nearly 30 years. As his disease progressed she was his nurse, giving the best loving care. It is because of her that he lived longer than any doctor ever expected and she was with him until he took his last breath.
In addition to his companion, Margaret, and his parents, Patricia Graham and her husband, Robert, and Alexander F. Piech Sr and his wife, Maureen, he will be sadly missed by his brothers, Alexander, Jr., and his wife, Diane, William, and John; his sisters, Patricia Smith and her husband, Edward, and Sharon Piech.
He now joins in Heaven, his brother, Steven F. Piech; and his nephew, Nicholas A. Bartone III, who predeceased him.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, November 26th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 27th at 11:30am at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.
